Commercialization is accelerating
At present, the research field of bio d polymer materials mainly involves four fields: thermoplastic polymer, thermosetting polymer, adhesives and plastic additives, which are mainly used in plastics, fibers, foams, composite materials, medical materials, adhesives, coatings and other industries. After years of development, the commercialization of biomaterials is accelerating in recent years. Although the proportion of bio d materials is less than 2% compared with the total consumption of plastics, the global consumption increased by 34% every year from 2009 to 2013. The market of this industry has a huge growth space.
Take the research and development of modified PLA as an example. Polylactic acid has many advantages, such as biodegradation, renewable raw materials (starch, cellulose), high strength, high modulus, good transparency, carbon reduction and environmental protection, but at the same time, it has many disadvantages, such as slow crystallization speed, poor heat resistance, poor transparency after heat resistance, poor impact resistance, high price, low melt strength, etc. For this reason, Zhu Jin's team carried out modification research on improving heat resistance, accelerating crystallization speed and reducing cost of PLA. By adding nucleating agent, toughening agent, plasticizer and other methods, the semi crystallization speed of heat-resistant PLA after modification was reduced from more than 15 minutes to less than 1 minute, the molding time was reduced from more than 10 minutes to less than 1 minute, the heat resistance was increased to more than 120 ℃, the impact resistance was doubled, and the transparency after heat-resistant was maintained well.
